In the past, the Maryland Department of Education and the Maryland Food Bank have hosted the annual Kids Helping Kids Food & Fund Drive. This food drive is hosted by the public schools all throughout Maryland and is very well supported with very high participation. This year, they have announced that the program is well established and that the local food banks should take on the project by reaching out and organizing the event themselves throughout their service area.
The Southern Maryland Food Bank would like to continue this tradition of collecting food and/or funds that has always made such a positive impact on hunger. Our service area is Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s county and strives to support the needs of all people experiencing food insecurity in those counties.
